More than 1 image within file

My question is this: Some of the files i've downloaded have more than 1 image that shows up on the screen in SCAL. How can i cut just 1 of the images rather than having to cut all of them to get just the 1 file i want??
Does that make sense??

Open the file in Inkscape and copy, paste and save the image that you want into a new file.

Depending on how the file is laid out, you might be able to just position it so that only what you want cut is on the SCAL mat. Anything "out of bounds" will not cut.
