In scal2 you have to DIY your stencils. You use the rectangle tool from the shapes table and place the rectangle on top of the shape you want to turn into a stencil and use path/back minus front.
If you have both scal2 and scal4 you can create in scal4 and send to scal2 to cut if that helps.

I hope this gets you started.

So I wrote my name KELLEY in arial black font put a rectangle aaround it selected them both & tried back minus front and both the rectangle and my name disappeared & left the arrows in the top left hand corner of my mat I hit undo & tried front minus back and it worked like that. Is it still a stencil doing it like that? Thanks for helping & thanks to the op for asking the question :)

I am considering buying the pro software but with so many unanswered threads on this forum it concerns me....I have downloaded the pro 4 to try and make a stencil from a word and cant find instructions..

You want to use Object>Merge in that case. If it doesn't give you the result you want, post back and we'll get it figured out. :)

Also, you want to use the Stencil Bridge function first, on your text or shapes. Then add the rectangle. Then select all and do Object>Merge.
