Thumbnail views are to light to see

When I open files (some SVG some SCAL4) in the library most of them are to light to even see in a preview. I have to drag them to my mat to be able to see what it is. Am I doing something wrong, or ??? I just received my ECLIPS for Christmas and am in the learning phases. But this is very frustrating.
