Messed up big time!

One of my regular customers wants 20 new decals. I knew when I saw the artwork that it was going to give me problems with the really small text, but I didn't think it would take me almost 20 minutes to weed one of the lines. I have to figure out a better way to weed this, because the letters just lift right off of the backing. I am so bummed. Live and Learn!

After doing some research, I think I am going to try this. Cut a box around the line that needs to be weeded and remove the excess. Apply the transfer tape and remove the backing. Weed the excess off of the transfer tape and hopefully the small letters will remain stuck to the tape. It's worth a try.

Todd, Are you using your Cricut or your Cameo? If you're using the Cricut I would give the Cameo a try. It should do a better/cleaner job cutting the small letters.

Eureka! This method works really well. It only takes about 3 minutes to do what previously took me over 20 minutes.

Yes, I did use my Cricut and I should have used my Cameo for the cleaner cuts. Lesson learned. In fact, I could have saved about 2 hours of cutting time if I had set up my Cameo and cut with it as well as my Cricut at the same time. I guess I wasn't thinking too well yesterday.

Todd,
great to see you again. Thanks for sharing your mess because we learn from them. I had to cut some letters a few days ago and cutting a box around the line didn't cross my dried brains. LOL live and learn!!

Nice to hear you got a cameo. I can image your work getting better and tinier.

Thanks! I do like my Cameo and I have used it for some really small cuts and it works great. I still use my Cricut for must of my cuts, because it still works. I can't believe that after all these years and all the cuts that I have made that it still does a really good job.

I was able to finish 40 decals on Saturday. I had most of the vinyl weeded except for 10 pieces that were easy to weed and then the 17 pieces of the really small text. I came up with a pretty good system and I was able to deliver the finished product on Saturday night.

Wow! Do you have a website or some place to admire your works. I understand if the clients want privacy.

Happy to hear all the cricuts work well.

No blog or pictures. I will try to remember to take some next time I do a decal.
