Hi there,
I can't figure out how to make my Print Margins the size of my paper. I made my virtual mat size the size of my paper which is 12x18"
When I preview the Print Margins are 8.5x11?! I can't find any setting that says 8.5 x 11.
I'm suspecting that it is in my printer settings;however, I have my paper setting at 12x18.

This is causing an error message that my design is outside the printing boundaries, in turn leaving out my registration marks.

Im using Scal3, 24" SB, Mac OSX 10.8

Any advice is appreciated!

print margins are set by the printer I think. so make sure you have that set up and set to 12X18 too - if you printer is not able to print 12x18 you won't get the margins to that size - only the biggest your printer goes.

Hmmm...
It can print 13x19, my paper is 12x18 so that is what I've been setting it too in any print option areas, still my print margin lines are showing up in preview mode as 8.5x 11
Does my virtual mat size have anything to do with this?

if your virtual mat is 12X18 (or bigger) then I doubt it.

is the actual printer paper set to 12X18 or is it set to 8.5 X 11?

I think scal pics up the printer settings so if the printer thinks it's using 8.5 X 11 that is what it will show as your margins

ignore scal for the moment and set the printer to print 12X18 via the printer dialogue box.

then try it again, see what happens

OK, So I finally found my printer settings to where i can set the default paper size. I changed it through System Preferences, which I can't believe I overlooked.
But now the orientation of the print margin is vertical when my mat is horizontal. When I change the mat to vertical, it changes the print margin to horizontal!
And back and forth ...

I had this a while ago, but it fix itself and I'm not 100% sure how but.....

and remember I'm on a mac so......

my orientation is portrait for the printer and the same for the mat

I then went into (which you may have already done) view>preview options and ticked the first three boxes, leaving only the show nodes unticked.

this then worked for me

It looks like mine fixed itself too...
I did however change the virtual mat size to my actual mat size...maybe it just needed some breathing room?
I'm on a mac as well, maybe that has something to so with it?
