Hey i have Scal 3 what does the pro have that Scal 3 does not have?
I use it with a US Cutter and the one thing i do not like about 3 is that the vinyl feeds to the end then starts cutting also you can not do quantity of something.
I use Sign Blazer most of the time but looking for something to work with my mac that is more like that and don't cost too much.

you can download Scal and try it out, but it WILL cut diagonal lines across the file as a watermark until you purchase.
I would download and have a play, see what you think and then decide if you want to buy it or not.

is the file all one layer or multi-layered?
if it's multi layers, I believe scal will cut from the bottom of the layers list to the top - so the first thing placed on the mat is the first to cut.
I don't cut a lot of vinyl but it might be specific to your cutters. might be worth finding someone with a different cutter and asking them if they can cut the file - see if it does the same on their one.
I have the 18inch silver bullet and don't see anywhere I can tell it where to start cutting apart from the WYSIWYG or Origin Point and I'm sure it starts from the closest point to the origin - maybe it has to do with how the file was created. every software will have a start and end point for a shape. maybe inkscape places these in a different place to scal as scal would to XXX software?
if you cutter uses a driver, check there are not settings in there that can be set - I know when I used to use signcut there was a setting that got us all everytime that would advance the media after a cut to cut off the vinyl - this meant the blade never returned to origin and you had to remove the tick. moreso after a update as it was always set as default with the tick in place
