SCAL 3 v3.041 on a Mac--Can't find my cutter

I've had two problems--when I've started SCAL3 it hangs at "Init Workspace" in the little yellow window. I fixed it twice by upgrading--first to 3.039, then, today to 3.041. The first upgrade worked perfectly. Today, the upgrade installed OK. But when I go to cut on my Silver Bullet Pro, the software can't find my cutter. I followed all the instructions--turning the machine off, unplugging the USB, etc, etc. No luck. Any advice? Thanks!

are you USB or keyspan?
if keyspan, check the LED on the keyspan device is flashing slowly - if it's steady or not on then it's not registered. unplug and try again.
if you are using USB, plug it in and give it a moment to register.
you have to select the port now in scal3 & pro - and set the baud rate (which should be 38400 unless your dealer has told you otherwise)

Using USB. I've given it plenty of time to register. I've also tried a different cable to be sure. The cable is fine. The baud rate is 38400, which is what the dealer said and what is preset on the cutter.
Not sure what you mean about selecting the port. It gives me the choice of Auto, two different Bluetooth ports, and a wireless printer port (which I don't have). It is set on Auto.

sounds like it's not recognized by the OS
you should have a com port that shows the USB is attached.
I use keyspan and get that showing up. I don't use USB as its not reliable (serial is better and recommended by most cutter manufactures) but most laptops don't have serial ports so keyspan is the next best thing.

Thanks, Gaz.
This is so odd--there was no problem with the OS recognizing the cutter before I updated the software to 3.041. Could it be a bug in this version? Is there a way I can revert to 3.039, which was working?
Also, what is a keyspan--haven't heard of that.

keyspan is a usb to serial device
but you need the correct one - best ask your dealer about one as they can get the correct one for you
I think, if you have the old install file you can just use that to reinstall.
it may be worth dropping craftedge a email with the problem. I have a SB and use a mac with scal3 & scal3pro 3.041 and not had a problem.

drop a email to craftedge, let them know the cutter you have and the OS and which version does not work and they will prolly see about why - might even send you versions to try out to find the problem.
