cut from a cricut cartridge with SCAL2

I just bought the "Mini Book" cricut cartridge. Can I open a cricut cartridge in my SCAL 2, so that I may move the designs around? I have the "personal cricut" with 6 x 12 cutting mat. some of the designs can be rotated to cut them in the 51/2" size if I could see them on a mat.
