Tracing transparent or light colors in Inkscape tutorial

Kay at cleversomeday posted this quickie tip video on how to trace very light or transparent images in Inkscape. This came up as a problem earlier in the week and when I saw this I knew it would be helpful

In Kay's example she uses "alpha" an option for the paintbucket, but my image was a transparent color and I used "blue" or "lightness" and it worked beautifully.

This is helpful! I just learned how to lighten a background in Inkscape to be able to trace something. There is so much I don't know about Inkscape. I'd love to buy one of the books that are out now but they are so darned expensive! Plus I don't know if they would be written in computereeze or plain English so I could understand it.

for myself if I find an image is wayyy too light I always take it into my photo program and adjust the brightness of the image.. I set it to a darker level and it turns out perfect every time..
