Another blade issue with Eclips

So I got my new Eclips to be able to cut bigger designs than my Sillhoutte SD could. Got it in and set it up and either I am doing something wrong or my blade holder is messed up. I cut a sheet of oracal 651 vinyl on blade=1 speed 4 and pressure 1. The finished product was horrible. I was not able to weed the material. It simply did not cut through enough for the cut product to be weeded. So I look online and found where someone used a setting very similar to what I had used but set the blade at about .08 (with new non click blade housing). I tried a few smaller cuts and it cut very well on my test cuts. So tonight I needed to cut a project which included many names on a white sheet of Oracal 651 vinyl. Set it up like before and again it did not cut enough so I could weed the end product. I noticed that it appeared that my blade is somehow changing settings as it cuts. For example I start at one and when it was done cutting the blade was midway between 1 and the 6. This means the blade retracted even more. Is this defective? There is no way that I see to tighten the heighth adjuster on the blade housing. Any experiences or suggestions? Thanks.

I have not experienced this at all with mine. Make sure the knob is tightened on the front of the blade housing. I have heard there were some issues with the original blade housings. Sizzix customer service is very good. Suggest you contact them and send them the serial number of your unit. Perhaps your unit has one of those original housings?

your blade has to be set on depth of 2, i have never used number one for nothing, one would be good for scoring thin paper thats about it. hope you retry this with all your other settings the same as you had, i dont want you to be disappointed i love mine.

Have yet to hear anything this morning from either Sizzix or OMC. Guess I will call if I do not hear from them soon. Hmmm should not be set lower than 2? Where do you get this from? Is that from your experience? Others with the new non click blades have suggested they got the best vinyl cut at about .08 setting which is lower than the 1 mark by just a bit. 2 would seem like it would be out too much to give a good vinyl cut. Anybody else got any setting suggestions mainly for vinyl?

I haven't had mine long but I have not manually adjusted my blade at all. I just indicate the medium that I am cutting and let the software/machine do the necessary adjustments. I've cut thin and medium weight card stock, wrapping paper and vinyl. No problems.

Ughhh......got my "replacement" blade holder in today and it is the old "clicky" one and not the newer one that has more precise settings. And now I can see why people say they are using a setting of 2. For sure on this clicky holder it is a two setting for vinyl. Guess I will try this out and see how it does.
