Newbie Question :)

Firstly I sincerely apologise if my question has been answered elsewhere, I have used the "search" option but could not find an answer anywhere.

I am very new to the Sizzix eclips machine and the ecal software as only got them at the weekend, I am getting to grips with it all but have come across one problem that I have spent the last 2 hours trying to sort and can't :( I am trying to use a horizontal oval as a frame for some text in the software (as shown on the Sizzix blog), welding it all together and then doing a shadow layer but the oval shadow is coming out as a solid so you can't see the text shadow.....even though I have it set as Fill - None on my shape, can anyone please help answer this for me :)

Many thanks

You work in layers.

So, your oval is a layer and your words and flowers can be a layer.

You can shadow the oval with a scalloped oval behind, as on the sizzix blog and then cut the letters and flowers and lay on top.

Or, you can take the words out of the oval and put a solid shadow behind and the color comes through the cut out words...and you just have to glue in the centers of the letters where needed.

Still not certain what you are wanting to do.

Thank you gj1, I did post a screen shot but it hasn't appeared yet, this would probably help to explain what I am doing (wrong!)

Thank you very much for all your help, I will try it your way as it looks like it will work, I was actually trying to create it like this but couldn't get it to work

Oh, that is pretty...I like your thinking. You would take the shadow of the words and remove it from the top oval....which the top oval has a solid shadow behind.

I have to think on this one and see if I can make it work. Give me some time.

I don't know all the wonderful fonts you used...but can't wait till you really get the hang of this...because your layout already says "AWESOME" to me :)
