eCal/EClips bundle - What's the catch?

Okay, call me skeptical, , but I am curious, what is the catch?

I see that Craft Edge has a special bundle of the eCal software with the Eclips cutting machine (and all standard items) for $275. However, on the Sizzix site, it is listed for ~$580 and it is out of stock.

That's over a 50% reduction in cost there. I even compared what is in the box and it is identical. What's the catch? How can they CE sell it for such a discount and when the Sizzix site says the machine is out of stock.

Regards,
Jayne

There's no catch. The dealers all sell it for less than Sizzix. You can get it at punkinpatchstamps.com for $299.00 with free shipping, the ecal software and a $20.00 gift cft to svgcuts.com. You can also check the price on ohmycrafts.com, as they have a good price and also coupons that you can knock off another 15% (and free shipping).
The only real catch is that those prices are only good through the end of the month. Sizzix has raised the price that any seller is allowed to sell at, so the price will go up, I believe, around $50.00 at the end of the month.
Happy shopping! I love my eclips and ecal software, by the way. It's a great system.

Thank you, mitsim, for the response!

I'm getting my Cricut Expression and FIFTEEN CARTRIDGES bundled along with many extras (I can't believe how much money I have spent on that) and ready to sell off to get the EClips. I'm tired of the closed ecosystem of Provocraft, and I actually need the laser technology for lining up cuts. I've started a business selling vinyl skins for various ereaders and I cannot always guarantee a lined up cut with the Expression. :(

I ordered my eclips from ohmycrafts, and the ecal direct from here, it was cheaper to spilt it up. There is no catch.

It's the same as PC selling carts on eBay for less than in the stores, and sales that craft stores have.

Hope you all enjoy your eClips and eCal when you get them and don't forget to post your projects and designs on the forum. I love mine and you will definitely be happy.

That's what I did! :D I ordered the eclips from OhMyCrafts and purchased the software from here, on CE. I'm playing around with eCal. I've had Version 2.0 of SCAL for the Cricut Expression, but I've since put my cricut up on eBay and selling ALL my carts and the Expression.

I. Can. Not. WAIT!!!! For my eClips!!!!

I'm glad you love yours. As my last post just said, I've put my Cricut and all my carts up on eBay and I'm anxiously awaiting my eClips. Selling the Cricut and the rest of my ProvoCraft gear is helping to fund my eClips purchase. I suspect I'll make enough to cover the cost.

You'll definitely make enough to cover the cost, and you'll never have to pay $40 to $80 for a cartridge again (unless you want to by an eclips cart for around $30). But, you'll be able to buy incredible and very inexpensive svg files, use 1000s of free svg files and use all of the installed fonts on your computer and download 1000s of free fonts. No more pouring money in the endless bottom of PC pockets. Yay for you! Take a look at svgcuts.com and see some of the amazing and fun and creative files they have over there.

Yes! I agree with the "endless bottom of PC pockets" comment. Oi. :x   And one of the reasons I got out of the ProvoCraft line of cutters.

I've already been using free svg files with SCAL and the original Cricut Expression. I just realized that I'm not even using my carts! I think I've used a a few images from a few of the carts I had, but I found myself mostly going online for what I wanted or needed - the Cricut carts didn't have any of that.

And best of all, the FONTS! SCAL/eCal has really helped to open up a wider array of designs for our cutters and crafting. :D

I have to get playing. But I had the same thing with the cartridges. I hardly used them. Also, I had a problem, and I couldn't believe the helpfulness and promptness of the Sizzix (Ellison) customer service! I had to wait the weekend, but it was great! A 180 experience from Provo Craft the three weeks ago.
