Help needed on SVG files not being sized correctly

Post by melissacz »

I just bought a Cameo machine and SCAL3 to use cutting out the many SVG templates I have purchased over the years which were rendered useless in my computer crash loss of SCAL.

When I import my SVG template files into SCAL3 they are all too big. I have used these files for at least 2 years with SCAL and my cricut and had no problems. I have been trying to resize them but since each project requires multiple files, I can't seem to get them scaled correctly. I should mention I am using a MacBook Pro.

I am super frustrated because I purchased SCAL3 because the files weren't working correctly in the Silohoutte Designer Edition software and I assumed it was a software problem. Now I'm just not sure what the problem is....

Does anyone have any suggestions of what I might be doing wrong?

Thank you in advance for any help you can give.

Melissa, I have a Mac and often my SVG files (even the ones I make myself) import larger than I set them in Inkscape. If you have all your pieces on one page in SCAL the only solution is to select all and then scale all of them at the same time.

Sorry this is not the best answer or the one you were hoping for but perhaps someone else will come along with a workaround.

Not sure if this will help...but seems we had the same issue with Scal2. And in Scal 3 also, you can possibly go to Edit Preferences(at the bottom)and then maybe see if changing from Illustrator to Inkscape, or the opposite of how you have it set, and see if it makes a difference, also in View maybe try using 'fit to window' to get the proper view of the image after you bring it in, without changing anything else, yet.

I was reading on svgcuts wall and someone mentioned this was happening. Leo said to change the dpi in scal to 72, and then it should import at the correct/designed size. I haven't had this problem, so I don't know, but it's worth a try. Let me know if it works, OK?
