Silhouette Cameo

My new Silhouette Cameo arrived today and I am so excited!! I have been reading through all of the posts trying to find as much information as I could prior to downloading SCAL3. I also have a Cricut Expression, which is how I initially became familiar with SCAL. From what I understand, I can keep SCAL2 loaded for use with my Expression and can install SCAL3 for use with my Cameo. If this is incorrect, please let me know. Mind you, I can't image why I would actually need to use my Expression now that I have a Cameo.

Thanks!

I haven't cut anything yet, but have been playing around w/ both SCAL 3 and the Studio that comes free with the Silhouette. This is my first time playing with SCAL 3 and am loving it!!!! Being more familiar with SCAL in general, I doubt I will ever need to use Studio, unless of course I want to use a Studio file. I have also been checking out the Silhouette files available for purchase online. I like the variety, as well as the designs. I also love that I can easily and quickly download a file for only $0.99. Don't get me wrong, I love having the ability and option to create anything I want, but also love the ease of being able to download and use something instantly. I often do projects for my kids' schools and don't have the time to research and find things I need to cut.

I promise to keep everyone posted, but so far so good. There is not much out there as far as tutorials and such, but hopefully that will change in the near future. I haven't even cut anything yet, but am thrilled beyond words! I can't wait to start cutting!!! :)

I got mine on Monday & have cut on it all week. The cuts are so clean easy to remove from the mat.

I finally broke in my new Silhouette Cameo and LOVE it!!! I did a couple of simple test cuts on plain old printer/copy paper and was amazed at how clean and precise all the cuts were. No jagged edges or torn pieces or any of the headaches I used to endure working with my Cricut Expression. This cutter is just amazing!!!! I also cut a bunch of vinyl as well and was also blown away with how simple it is to use and that a cutting mat is NOT needed when cutting vinyl. I will create another post so it may be easier for other people to find and track information on the new Cameo and SCAL3. Can't wait to sell my Cricut Expression!!!! :)

I'm having trouble figuring out how much margin I need on my vinyl for cutting without a mat. I am also curious how you cut longer than the 40" max custom mat size allows?
