Newbie with a question

I am new to SCAL and am thinking about purchasing some files that are in corel draw and adobe illustrator format. Can I use these with scal?

Both of these files can be used. You will need appropriate software to convert them to SVG.
If you do not have Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator, I do not recommend you purchase them, since Inkscape does not accomodate them.

I don't have either Adobe Ill or Coral Draw but I can use pdf files. I have several of Martha Stewart pdf files of boxes and was able to convert (open) them in inkscape and import them in scal. They work just fine for me. Of course there were a few other steps in between opening in inkscape and having them ready for scal. But it was fairly easey.
