My circles are cutting as octagons...why?

Post by lionessaz »

I'm making some sheets with several sizes of solid dots. My 1/4" dots are fine and perfect round (4 nodes)...but my 3/16" and 1/8" dots (also 4 nodes each) are cutting more like a soft octagon instead of round. Can someone help me figure out why? Are those 2 sizes just too small for the machine to cut cleanly? Thanks for any help you could offer!!

If you are using a cricut you have just discovered one of it's major flaws. It just is not capable of cutting circles because of the type of plotter it is. I bought a separate hand circle cutter for just that reason. When I look for a new cutter I will be asking that question. Wish I had better news for you but I don't.

I have a cricut E and have never had problems with circles looking like circles. Maybe it's just a flaw in some machines..
