Craft Edge

I viewed all of the tutorials that came with SCAL and when I got to the one on layers I was excited about working with that. When I go into my program, click on the Window drop down, then click on layers my layers work area does not look like the one in the tutorial. For example, I only have icons for adding a new folder and a trashcan. Also, when I go to put something on the layer it does not give me just an outline of the object, the object is totally filled in with color. Is there a way to get just an outline?

Can anyone shed some light on this for me please?

At the top of your toolbar in Scal click on view and then check off outlines only..
