Hi everyone-

I am wanting to do a circle monogram (like you see in a lot of wedding gift/ideas) but in my circle I'd like to have a whole word...I want to write a school name. With the Monogram font I have, I am only able to do 3 letters, and my school name will be 5.

Can anyone help me out? Or give me some suggestions on how to do this?

I've attached something similar to what I want (as I'm pretty sure I'm not real clear here! ;) ) This is not my design, but Leslie's over at smartbuygal forum--I'm just attaching so you can see what I am wanting. I don't care much about the font, I just want it to be in this circle shape.

Thanks for any help!
Katie

Susan, thank you so much for this link. I finally downloaded Ink 0.48 on a different computer and couldn't remember how to do this. This was timely and a very big help. :)

Thanks for the help! The video is a great tool. . .however I'm not the type of 'learner' to watch & learn, I'm better when I can refer back to something in writing. So. . .I'm having trouble with this. I'm wanting to actually do TWO 'circle' warped-type words. . .
J-HAWKS & JESUP. (two seperate files) Could someone help me out further with this?

Thank you
Kate

KATIE, I've never tried this before but it was a challenge for me. I don't know if this will do you but I don't have anymore time to play. You might consider contacting the person who did the Peace Tumbler and maybe she will do it for you.

Anyway this is as far as I got .... it is hard to make the two match (at least for me) with the different number of letters and the shape of them.

Can I ask what font you used with these?

Thanks

The font is apple casual, it comes with the Apple OS. I do believe that dafont has a font named casual.

I'm glad you liked my work, it took a bit of learning on my part but I was in need of learning something new although I had used the technique before but not for this specific application.

Hey everyone!

Thanks for your help with this. . .a special thanks to Papasue for designing these files. I've watched different videos on how to do this and I can't seem to figure it out myself. . . I don't learn really very well through watching a video and THEN doing--I like to be able to refer back to a written tuturial (which I haven't found yet). SO--I'm hoping someone might come along and be of assistance to me. I am wanting to do another school with this type of design...so I am wanting to do two seperate things (the school name and the school mascot)

Can anyone help me out further?

Thanks so much
Katie

These are the notes I took regarding this:

Bulge Inkscape

Open Ink
Type Text
Select all
Path - Union
Path - Break Apart
Select all - Combine
Path - Path Effect Editor
Envelope-Deformation-Add
Top Bend
Bottom Bend
Keep Selected
Path-Object to Path(no more able to alter)(disappears)

or

Top Bend, Bottom Bend and nudge center of lines between nodes up or down
