Calibrate

Post by gj1 »

I am hoping that someone will share a screenshot and settings that have worked for them in the new Calibrate section.
I have been trying, but can not get it just right. I am wondering if I am missing something. I think I get my X and Y mixed up :)
I realize my machine won't necessarily be the same as someone else...just would like to see how someone who has gotten it to work well did it. Thanks.

See Penny Duncan's video. It's for MTC but works well with SCAL too. You have to skip over all her prep of the file as it is only relevant to MTC, later on she gets to how to figure out the skew between the printer and the Cricut. Lots of math involved, so beware.

Here's the one for SCAL done on the very first day the feature was available.

This is the same video as the first one above, and it is not right for scal...however may help some in the figuring.

My printer prints right on at 1 and 1(if that is where I have my picture placed),...what does not happen is,... it does not CUT at 1 and 1(for that same placement).

Still have some figuring to do. And, I am wondering if changing the UNITS setting in the machine would mess it up for cartridge cuts. Not that I use them anymore...but just wonder?

ALSO...after finding the Calibration settings in SCAL...does the info. get saved or does it have to be reset with each time the Scal is opened?

That is a tutorial for 2.030...so it is not relavant, and there was a warning for not downloading from site when I clicked on picture for example file to use while following instructions. May have been warning for download source site. Bummer.

Yep. Not the right video 2.040+ (now up to 2.041) has a new "Calibrate" item under the "Cutter" menu. See the 2.040 thread for a screenshot.

The new calibrate gives X&Y offset adjustment and X&Y scale adjustment. Looks very useful. After cutting, I see my Cricut is about 1/16" off in the Y axis, and could use a bit of an adjustment in the X scale.

BUT... there's no units given for the adjustments. How many cuts will it take to figure out what 1 offset unit and 1 scale unit are??? :?

I was trying to figure this out before also. Under the preferences tab, we have an option to set up the grid on our mats, but when I try change this, nothing happens.
