I am new to this and am still learning... I am finding that my paper (both cardstock and Freezer) rips while cutting. I have adjusted the speed to "low" in my settings, but haven't found that it makes any difference. My blade is new so I don't think that it's dull. Is there something else that I can do to prevent this???

Hi. Try reducing the pressure on your blade housing and the Cricut the (bottom knob on the left). I've never cut freezer paper, but I have cut copy paper by reducing the pressure. Also, I really don't know if it matters, but I read that the little black arrow on the blade housing that shows what your setting is shoud be facing the front. Try test cuts with different settings and different types of paper and take notes. As for speed, it helps if you cut slow with intricate designs. I hope this helps a little.

There are two pressure settings on the Cricut, the gray knob to the left and the knob on the blade. As you have mentioned, SCAL only controls the speed. I keep mine on the 5th pressure setting on the gray knob and change the blade setting according to the thickness of my paper, usually a 4. Each Cricut is different, however. You just have to find your Cricut's particular settings.

You also need to ensure that your paper is properly adhered to the mat... I found that out the hard way too!
