Church Bulletin Cross

Hello & Happy New Year!

I have a file that I would like to share with the forum. This design came from the front of a scrapbooking friend's church bulletin. She had cut it from the page and shared it with me at our annual Croptoberfest.

My group of fellow Cricut users has begun to grow. New members have been added with the passing holiday since a Cricut Create was among the gifts received! Yippee! I am the only member who uses SCAL to create my own designs, however, and I asked my friend if she would like for me to 'convert' her Church Bulletin Cross into a file that could be cut with a Cricut machine. She enthusiastically agreed to the attempt and allowed me to take possession of her cut-out.

About 3 weeks later, I was able to meet with this same group of friends and present them all with one of these designs. I cut the background flourishes from an opalescent white cardstock and overlaid it with the cross cut from a gun-metal metallic cardstock. Everyone was amazed by the results, and my friend graciously agreed to allow me to share this design with all of you on this forum, so here it is...

Notice the red star in the upper left-hand inside corner of the cross? I use this star to ensure that the cross and corresponding background are sized appropriately to match when cut out. (When I first joined the forum, I read about doing this in someone's post. I do not get to spend nearly the time I would like working with SCAL, my Cricut, or reading/posting to this forum, so if there is a more sophisticated manner of ensuring two parts of a same design match in size when cutting, I would be pleased to have someone share that with me! Thanx! BTW, if you resize the SVG files so that the star is a match, then the parts will match when cut.)

You should note also that this design does not cut well at small sizes. I would recommend that the height of the cross be cut at least 3.5 inches tall (with the background sized appropriately to match).

I love sharing on this forum, so I hope that this design can be used by someone.

I am new to SCAL and when I see projects such as this, it makes me excited to try designing my own. Thank you for the inspiration.
