Was wondering if there is a font that has long tails on the left and/or right of the letter - if you know what I mean. Have seen the word LOVE somewhere that has long 'swirls' in the front of the L and at the end of the e??

You could try Albemarle Swash, but you will need to thicken the font unless you're cutting it at a good size. http://www.fonts101.com/search/albemarle%20swash.aspx

I will try and find a picture of the way I am wanting it to look. May be from some sort of word art site - Have the seen the word LOVE with a tail at the start and end of the word. If I was clever I would be able to make it in Paint Shop Pro - but not very good with that programme.
