Hi! I'm new on this, I just installed my SCAL2 and wanted to make a test and everything was ok until I click on the cut with cricut icon... I just get a small window that says cutting with cricut... and it has a bar and says checking mat. . . and it don't do anything... I waited for more than 5 minutes =( Am I doing something wrong? or does a normal cut takes more than that? I try to find a tutorial about how to work with scal from scratch but I can't find anything that explain the abc about it... how to connect it to the cricut, turned on or off conect it and then turn it on, should I press cut in the machine? can anyone please help me?

I don't think that the cricut is the problem because it's new and I can cut normal with the cart, I also checked that the SCAL is on the windows xp compatibility mode in windows vista... I also checked that the usb ab cable is correctly connected, everything is on... I don't know what else to do or check...

Before the checking mat box came up there should have been a firmware selection box that asked which cricut (personal, create or expression) and firmware you were using. Unless you have the personal you would need to make a choice. Hope this helps

Thanks! Yes, I saw that... I have the cricut expression 2.3 and I selected that one... =( It doesen't work...

Daniela If you could add all your information to your signature line as seen in this post and then it will eliminate alot of questions for the ones that can help you

Thanks! I'm watching them, that's how I find out that I needed to install the USB driver so I think I found the problem, I can't install the USB driver, I got an error:

Error:
An error occurred while trying to install the USB Driver: 740.
ok

and I don't know how to fix it... =(

Disable your firewall.... it may be blocking you.... then try again..

Thanks to everybady!! and specially to the SCAL team that help me to fix my problem! It was as simple as runin it as an administrator and install the driver.
