I need some help. I have a jpg I'm trying to cut. I click on image, find the jpg, and proceed but I continue to get a message that says, "Failed to convert the image to outlines"
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks in advance!

Are you using SCAL2? Did you preview it to see if the brightness settings gave a good trace? The only time I have gotten that message is when my settings in SCAL2 were too low and a trace wouldn't have any lines for cutting. I have a post on my blog
here with more info on the brightness settings in SCAL2.

Thanks Heather! When I click preview, nothing comes up on the right side.

Out of the blue, my Scal2 is now doing this same thing....the ONLY time I can get it to trace is if the image is black and white....I've tried adjusting the settings, nothing. HELP PLEASE!

You may have to contact support if nothing improve by adjusting the settings.

You could try opening the picture in Paint and save as a 16-bit .bmp and see if that makes a difference.

If it is an image you can post, someone else could give it a try. It helps when members have the file/jpg when you need help.

No, I'm an idiot......I was trying to trace an image that was white on pink, and the white was apparently the problem. Thank you all!!

I prefer to use
GIMP for tracing images. I find it's magic wand tool to work better for me than SCAL. And I can save the selections as SVG that can be opened in SCAL.

So funny Darla. My students do the same thing with PowerPoints. They love white lettering on colored background. When they print it must be in black and white (we don't use color printers in the room), and their pages come out blank. It is always funny to watch them figure it out.
