How to clean up image??

My friend asked me to cut this .jpg as a car decal for her. I've tried separating the image so the team name is separate from the lightening bolt without any success. I've tried in Inkscape and in SCUT2. I would like to make it so the lightening bolt outlines the 'o' in storm and isn't incorporated into it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I didn't cut this so if it needs tweaking just let me know.

Thank you so much!! I will play with this a bit later today or tomorrow and I'll let you know if I get it the way I want.
