HELP! Cannot figure out Inkscape!!!

Post by 3birdmom »

I have lost count of how many times I have tried converting line drawings into SVG's on Inkscape. I've watched & read EVERY tutorial I can, printed almost the enitire Inkscape instruction manual, and still cannot get my image converted :-( Can anyone help me? I would like this image of a German Shorthair Pointer convertedto an SVG. I'd like it to be solid, not an outline. I have lots of pages to scrapbook but can't do them yet. Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Here you go
Hope it is OK

It also can be done in SCAL 2
Select File - Trace Image
Browse for your image to trace
Set your brightnes to 80 for that image and click preview.
If it is OK click OK

With the image selected select object - Break apart

select the bits you don't want and delete them. T Try and delete the out side line. This will leave your dog filled in.

Have fun

In Inkscape you go to Path then change your brightness cutoff to 0.800 then hit Update and then you can pull apart the svg from the image. svg will be black, image blue. Of course you still will need to take the layers apart. I use the break apart feature.

I have created instructions with photo steps as to how I created the SVG file and SCAL2 file for this image. Just email me at Jamielanedesigns@gmail.com and I will send you the tutorial and the SVG file if you wish. This is what my cut of your image looks like -

Thanks!
Jamie

I have a minitut on using the paintbucket for images like this. You may have to fiddle with the threshold since the lines are so light.
