Craft Edge

I have been lurking around here for the past month or so, and decided it was time to take the plunge and sign up and introduce myself. For about a month now, I have been cutting using SCAL and my pink E.

Had I not come across SCAL, I probably would not have taken the cricut plunge, because I wanted and needed to be able to cut my own stuff without dropping thousands of dollars on individual cartridges that are a pain in the backside to use.

Thanks to all for the tips and tricks that have been posted. My first big inkscape project is cutting as we speak. My dad wanted a set of 2 inch non industrial stencils to use with his plasma cutter (he will trace them on the metal). They are cutting in the stencil film as we speak, thanks to who ever had the awesome instructions on how to put the counters in the letters so they would be stencils.

I'm just learning scal and inkscape and am not techie by nature (I'm a lawyer, and my other half is a detective) so its a bit of a curve for me. But, I am figuring things out slowly but surely.

I'm another one of those who never would have considered the cricut until I heard about this program... I just love the endless possibilities SCAL provides-- and as you have discovered, there are even practical uses!! It definitely makes the Cricut so much more than a simple Scrapbook machine (thank goodness!!)
Anyway, hopefully you've kinda figured your way around here in the past month or so-- there are lots of super SCAL pros around here too if you ever have trouble as well as lots of awesome projects posted if you dig deep enough (the search button is my dear friend ).

Welcome, looking forward to seeing your creations. I am very interested in seeing how the stencils come out after they get cut. My husband does ornamental iron and we had consider using the cut outs as stencils, now I can tell him that it does work!

I just wanted to chime in and say a very big thank you to all these talented artists that are so generous with their help, tutorials and free svgs. I would have most likely given up had all this free advice was not available. SCAL + Cricut....so many possibilities of what can be created.
