I have that just scotch tape the outside of the paper down and it works just as well as spray or a new one.

I also get lots of life out of my mats, by using a small rolling pin(pampered chef) to rool my paper onto my mat. it really makes a difference.

I can't use aerosols so I use the fat Zig Glue Pen. I also use a fingernail brush to get all the paper fiber out of the mat. It works really good.
