If you don't use DS, there will be no need for DS updates . So once you have your firmware updated with the correct version there is nothing PC can do that will block SCAL unless you update your firmware again after PC comes up with a block. Even if they do, I have complete confidence that Todd will fix it again. I don't even have DS on my laptop anymore, and no plans to install it again.

I'm running scal and design studio both updated in December with no problems, I'm not sure if cricut has updated their firmware yet but mine work great together!

I downloaded it on Fri. evening. I ended up with Version 1.52 but it works just fine with SCAL!!!!
