When I hold down the shift and click it selects the whole page, not the single objects on the page. Sorry for being so dense, just new to inkscape and trying to learn. :)
Could the pdf that I have downloaded be a bad pdf if so any suggetions on where to get a good one?

It might be.. look on 4shared.com for clear pdf. They used to have them but removed them (cricut) cause they knew what people were doing. Thats where to find the original ones that people still have!

Don't buy the cart! There are lots of artworks already out there waiting to be cut very similar to these. If you can't find one, post what you like from the PDF and somebody here will probably redraw it and send it to you. I looked at the PDF and these are pretty simple files to draw.
