When PC updates the DS for new cartridges
Re: When PC updates the DS for new cartridges
Have you been able to cut from CDS and SCA without updating firmware?

It does state in the CDS MB post from Chris (PC admin) that a firmware update will be required after this 2nd update...so far no one on that board is having any issues not being able to cut with SCA after doing the update, so all is well it looks like!

Great news Stephanie! Thanks for the info. I was too scared to ask anyone over there. Seems to be that SCA is taboo there now! lolSteph Stimson wrote:It does state in the CDS MB post from Chris (PC admin) that a firmware update will be required after this 2nd update...so far no one on that board is having any issues not being able to cut with SCA after doing the update, so all is well it looks like!

Re: When PC updates the DS for new cartridges
I don't want to ask any questions "over there" either. I've noticed that in the last week, SCA is hardly mentioned at all. I am wondering if we HAVE to do the update. I don't like the new carts, so I don't really want to update if I don't have to. I also don't understand what Chris (PC Admin) ment by a firmware update will be required after this second update. Are there two different kinds of updates?CBJPL31 wrote:Great news Stephanie! Thanks for the info. I was too scared to ask anyone over there. Re: When PC updates the DS for new cartridges
What would happen if you just didn't update
Re: When PC updates the DS for new cartridges
Nothing would happen...you'd just keep using the version that you currently have.
Just to let everyone know though...I've updated including firmware and everything is working fine. My SCA went missing with some of it's windows but I contacted Todd and he told me just to reset the defaults and they would come back...they did. I'm not sure if it was caused by the update or if it was coinecedence (sp?) that it happened the same time but since it's now working it doesn't matter I guess. I cut with both CDS and SCA last night and both are working fine with the CDS update. Thing is...the new carts, you can't see the images until you roll over them with the mouse and they kinda screwed up the Mickey carts in CDS and also all the new carts were loaded under the font category whether they are or not. Kinda stupid they screwed it up so bad...but not surprising.
So go for the update...it won't hurt your SCA. I like some of the new carts and plan to buy them this summer. Not all them but about 4 or 5.

Re: When PC updates the DS for new cartridges
If you don't plan to buy any of the new carts, do you need the update? I'm guessing, since it hasn't been discussed, that they didn't add any new features to CDS, like group/ungroup?
Re: When PC updates the DS for new cartridges
I'm not updating until I buy one of the new carts (which may be never
) or they add new features on DS that I want. I hardly use it anymore and I have the full version. I wish I would have just been happy with the trial version of DS and saved my money
. I would like JOYS and PD but I wll buy the Expression before I get those and I don't need the update for that
.
