You're right! I never noticed that. The drawback is that since I haven't sorted them into categories, ALL of my fonts are available and therefore slowing down the system. Good to know though, I'll need to be more careful about closing the font manager now.

Okay, so here's what I read to do, and it really works well.
When I download fonts, I put them in a "downloaded fonts" folder.
Then, I subcategorize in that same folder according to how I think I will use them, or how they cut. I just link nexus to the folder (or folders, I can't remember).
I have one called "uncuttable" with grunge fonts and such in it, or very intricate fonts, or ones I've downloaded for print and color.
I have one called "Clear cut fonts"...these are my go-to fonts.
Well, I'll post a list of mine, if that helps. It did take some time, but it is so helpful. I save all them to my external on occasion.
And I don't have to worry about which ones are native windows fonts before I've never put any in there.
I just link Nexus to my downloaded fonts folder and it picked them all up.
When I go to add fonts, I just open the "downloads" folder and my "downloaded fonts" folder and drag them into the appropriate folder.
When I'm working on a project whether in photoshop or scal, I never have too many fonts running to slow down the system either. It's only going to make available to me the categories I've had open in Nexus (until I close it and begin again).
Also, if I now the general genre I want, it makes finding fonts so much easier than the little tiny scal list.
