I've tried the grip.. Wasn't a success for me.. I used the casing off a pen and that worked pretty good.... But I still would like something with less fussing.. I'm what some would call a perfectionist and that's not a good thing..LOL.. You should see when I sew dresses??haha..

I don't want to brag, or anything (ok, I'm lying), but my husband made me one of the metal holders (he's a machinist). I had tried the rubber grip and really didn't like it. There was too much play. The metal holder would be worth the money.
Oh, and if anyone knows where to get a mini white gel pen, that would be awesome. I did find a silver and gold one at Target, but no white.

Kate,
That is how Amy Chomas got started with this. Her husband is a machinist and made her one and then people asked to buy them and now they have a thriving business. I use the gel grips for Sharpies, but could never get them to work for the gel pens. I do enjoy having the metal holder. I have looked for months for white mini gel pens and am in the process of trying to run the ink down on a regular sized one so I can snip it off without making a huge mess. Whoever sellling white mini gel pens is going to be VERY popular. I got glitter ones at M's over the holidays, but no white.

My hubby is a mechanic and welder so I'm sure he could do this for me as well but I want to give it a try with my own method first.. LOL

about the gel pen........that's easy ......just use an old one where the ink is half gone or so, take the ink part out and cut off what ever won't fit and insert it into a gel pen shell and use it that way.

I was thinking about this...
What if you "sacrifice" one of the cricut markers... Taking the "guts" out, and putting the gel pen in???
The cricut markers are already the perfect size to fit in the housing...

Yep, greg, that's why I'm running the ink down on my full size white gel pen as fast as I can!
Shelly, as far as I know the Cricut pens are sealed, but it wouldn't hurt to try. If you get the pens for the Silhouette they also fit the Cricut and can easily be taken apart to insert another pen barrel in. These have been very cheap lately. I have several options and just swap the barrels around to suit what I need.

Well guess what, someone has come out with a white one, but it's not sold separately.

Kay, I'm glad you had the idea of snipping down a used gel pen, too. Hopefully it works, I don't see why it wouldn't. I have been using my white gel pen on everything to use it up!
Thanks for the link! They have a great price for the holder for those of you who might want one. A kit with pens and a holder is only $24.
