railroad crossing road sign

Post by blairbsb »

I have a jpeg of a road sign that I am trying to make into a hot fix rhinestone template, however, I can't seem to break apart the two colors (only want the yellow part of the sign to be stoned with SS-10 - leaving the black free of stones so that when heat pressed onto a black tshirt it will show thru - thus saving on stones). Can anyone advise what I am doing wrong? I have Sure cuts a lot 2 and still learning how to use. Thanks, Beverly

Beverly, if you can post the image here someone will surely help you. Seeing it is a lot easier than imagining what you have.

If you need help attaching the image to your post just ask.

You need to go to File and Trace and find the picture and then hit ok. Then you need to go to the Properties Panel and check mark Keep Proportions and make it the size that you want it to be. Then you need to drag a box around everything OR go to Edit and Select All and then to Object and ungroup and then click on the outside edge and right click on your mouse and click on hide, then for the next circle just delete it with you keyboard after you click on it. Then go to Object and ungroup after you put a box around the pie shapes and R's all together. Then put a box around each one with the R's and go to Object and Merge...then right click on your mouse and click on SHOW ALL or use Object Show All, but once again hide the outside circle. Then put a box around everything and go to Object and Rhinestones and pick your size and check to fill all, pick a color and hit ok. Then show the outside circle and uncheck the fill the object box in the rhinestone panel and pick a color and hit ok, and you might have to do this circle off to the side and then select it and drag in back into position.

If you can't do this...please indicate the size you want and the shape of the SS10's and which ones are they, PP21 or PP22.
Sorry I don't know anything about rhinestones, but I can help you lay out the template.

I don't do rhinestones but I played with it. Being "old" I sometimes don't understand but I did a design that may help you and others communicate about what you want to happen. Everything in red will cut. Let us know if this is what you are trying to accomplish and if not what changes.

What am I doing wrong? I have finally stoned the design and saved the project as a svg file but when I try to attach it here for someone to tell me what I've done wrong, it does not attach. How do I do that? Thanks for any help. BB

Thank you Susan, that is almost what I wanted to do. I was trying to fill all the yellow sections of the jpeg. If you can view the file I attached to my last reply, perhaps you can see what I am talking about. I appreciate all you have done to help me. I am trying so hard to master this software, I can't wait to be able to make my own rhinestone templates for making transfers. Beverly

Beverly...I think you HAVE mastered this...it is EXACTLY what I was trying to achieve. I think your design will look great. Those are all the yellow areas for stone filled...can't get any better than this....and the shape you came out with holds true to so close to perfect round...can't get any better...it will look AWESOME!!! GOOD GOING!
