Need Quick Help

Post by LogiBear »

I have a project due soon that requires a lot of cutting with an exacto knife. I thought I could make it easier on myself to do it with my cricut. So I bought the scal2 program and got inkscape. It tells me that the image has to be an outline first. So, I try and I can't seem to figure it out. Usually I would search until I found the solution, but the project is time sensitive and there is a lot to do. A link to the image is below.. Can anyone tell me how I can do this quickly?

in SCAL, you need to trace the image first - it's under the file menu.

I just tried this with your image and I don't think it's going to give you the result you are looking for. From your image it looks like these are just straight cuts into the paper and when I tried to trace the image each line becomes a closed path.

I can try it in Inkscape and see what happens.

I got the same result in Inkscape - closed paths. However, I was able to draw an open path version for you. This screenshot shows the open path on the left and the closed path verison on the right. I've attached both .svg files here so you can decide which you need.

Hope this helps.

I'm confused. What is the end product of this design?

I'll post a picture when it's complete. The closed path worked great.

The End result is this. A neat pattern for the front of a card. I used dual toned cardstocked and folding back the arrows brought the other color forward.
