I have an older version of inkscape and would like to know how to upgrade and where I need to go to get the newest version.
I just read that most feel that .47 version is better than .48. However, when I went to inkcape site, they only have .48 available for download.
Can I get .47 somewhere else? Thanks

Re: upgrading to newest version
I find 0.48 more stable than 0.47 on my Mac and some designers still prefer 0.46 but you can find all of them here.

Do I need to uninstall the older version first?

No it writes over, at least on my Mac.
