Hello,
I really love the flexibility that SCAL gives me and, quite frankly, I never would have purchased a Cricut if this software did not exist. Also, I really appreciate the fact that you have a Mac Version. Thank you so much!
I do have a few suggestions for improvement. These items may have already been mentioned, but these are some things that I would like to see in future versions of SCAT:
- flip object (vertically, horizontally and diagonally)
- the ability to create straight horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines (for Macs that is usually accomplished by holding the shift key down with a key click)
- the ability to have more than one file open at the same time in different tabs
- a ruler function so that I can measure the distance between two parts of an object or the length of a line within an object
- the ability to import mtc (makes the cut) files
- the ability to continue working on projects while SCAL cuts
Thanks,
Magda
Wish list -- flip, straight lines, multiple files, etc.

Many of these options are already in the program here is the link to the tutorials that will help you along with getting to know the program

If you want to cut mtc files it is another company and you would need their program for it
GOOD LUCK

Re: Wish list -- flip, straight lines, multiple files, etc.
Butterfly,
After watching the tutorials and playing with the program for a while, there were a few things I forgot about, for example the flip function (at least vertically and horizontally). I am not sure where to find the other functions though.
Using the "snap to" allows me to create straight lines, but is inconvenient when I want to draw things that I do not want to snap to grid, for example, when placing things on a curve. Is there another way to do that? If so, I have not found it.
Even after trying to open another copy of SCAL, I was unable to have more than one file open at the same time.
Is there a ruler function somewhere. I know that I can find the length and width of a complete object and I know I can use the rulers on the edge of the virtual mat to determine a length, but neither is helpful if I am trying to fin the length of a diagonal portion of an object. That is the functionality I am looking for: I click on one spot and then another and the ruler function tells me the distance between the two clicks.
Most other design programs are able to import other, competing design files. MTC does not have a Mac version and I would really hate to have to purchase another design software just to be able to read its files. I have design software for other design arenas that all read the competitors software with no problem. They may not be able to write to the competitor's format, but reading and converting the files is permitted and possible.
I know that continuing to work in SCAL while it is cutting is not possible, because I have seen another post on the topic.
Thank you for your response. I would really appreciate if you could point me in the right direction for the items that I cannot find as I have searched and not had any success.
Thank you,
Magda

Re: Wish list -- flip, straight lines, multiple files, etc.
You can open more than one scut file at a time with the recent updates. You need to use the import/svg button for the second file. This will open the file in a new page, but you can copy/paste from one page to another if you need it on the same page.

You can open multiple copies of SCAL in order to keep working while cutting

Unfortunately, I have been unable to find a way to do that on the Mac.Butterfly wrote:You can open multiple copies of SCAL in order to keep working while cutting
But, thanks for the suggestion,
