New update for CDS

There is a new update for the CDS. No font pack this time.
I believe you must update the firmware of you cricut machine. Will SCAL2 work after this???

I downloaded the new font pack from Oct 19th and SCAl works fine

But fontpack updates only update the list of cartridges within the program. Updates to CDS are program updates. The update that was released today (27 Oct 2009) is an actual software update that changes the program itself, not just the list of cartridges.

SCAL (both 1 and 2) have been working fine with the font pack updates, but this is the first real update to the program since Dec 2008. I'm curious as to what they have done in terms of blocking SCAL. I suspect nothing, but want to be cautious.

Has anyone did the new update and how is it.. ? Does SCAL still work. I won a WW cartridge on the Cricut MB and would like to use it in Design Studio but not if it messes up my SCAL. I am hoping some brave person has tried it and posts..

Okay you do NOT need the software update.

I did the font pack update. I have the newest cartridges on DS now. Winter wonderland, snow friends, etc

I'd only update DS completely if you truly use it.
