SCAL cuts slow

Post by mitchella89 »

When I cut with SCAL on my cricut, it not only cuts slow, but it does not cut in a smooth motion. It cuts in small movements making my image have rough edges.

Which version of SCAL are you running? Actually note that version number on the splash screen when you open SCAL. Also, which Cricut do you own? And is this PC or Mac?

I'm not a Cricut user but I do read posts at some of the Cricut Expressions support groups on Facebook and from what I've gathered, the speed is restricted to kind of a midway setting. I'm not sure about the "smoothness" issue.

Because of the law suits that Provo Craft brought against Craft Edge and two other 3rd party software companies, cutting directly to your Cricut from these programs is forbidden. Now that the Expressions and older cutters are no longer supported, some of the Cricut owners with technical expertise have felt a bit more comfortable providing the necessary file and instructions on how to get a Cricut Expressions 1 cutter (and older models) cutting directly from SCAL5. But unfortunately, you won't see Craft Edge creating improvements and new functionality in SCAL5 for the older Cricut cutters.

I urge you to join the following Facebook group because the admins are amazing. You can freely ask these kinds of questions and they will let you know the latest they've discovered about cutting directly from SCAL5 to a Cricut and may be able to help you with the uneven cutting issue and if there's been any discoveries regarding controlling the speed. Good luck!
