Can someone help me with cutting accuracy?

Post by CrossHairSB »

Hi,
I make templates for a musical device, accuracy (location wise) is important. For the most part...the cutouts (Horizontally) are locationally off. Seems like the wider the cutouts are APART from one another...the positioning suffers. Is there anything I can do to improve the location of these cutouts?
Thank you,
Ken

Hi Ken,

What brand and model of cutter do you have? Most likely it just needs a sizing calibration performed but it could also be something else. If you go to Cutter>Cutters Settings you'll see Resolution in the upper left corner. That ties to the following calibration procedure. If it's not there, then your model doesn't have that ability or it might be something you can do on the control panel of your cutter using instructions from your cutter company. Also, some cutter models have a step size or other setting in that same window which will affect sizing and spacing performed.

Here is the tutorial on performing a Resolution calibration:

Thank you very much Sandy,
I'm going to try it out after work. I use the Silver Bullet professional 13" cutter. I don't believe I calibrated it like this before...kinda excited.
I'll let you know how it worked out.
Thanks again,
Best,
Ken

You're welcome! I hope this solves the issue and it doesn't turn out to be a mechanical problem of some kind.
