i open a file in ink then save it as a .svg and open it in sure cuts and it is blank as well what am i doing wrong?
Do i have to do any thing in ink to show where the file needs to be cut before i save it as a .svg?

Make sure you IMPORT the file into SCAL - not open it.

Make sure the file you downloaded is not grouped. The best way is to open the file in INK, select it, and then check the status bar at the bottom of the INK page (under the color bars) and if it says Group then you will have to use the Object>Ungroup command until it is no longer grouped.
Try some of the files posted here under SVG. Many of them should be OK especially if you select the files created by members on the board. Some of the files are uploaded svg files and I haven't tried them.
