Which one should I get to emboss paper and such for cards. The Sizzix or the Cuttle bug. Which one do you like and why. I am just starting out and don't want something bad but also don't want to spend a lot of money. Any tips and suggestions. Thank you in advance.
I would say Sizzix just because I don't like ProvoCraft. Wife has a Bigshot and really liked it when she used it. I just went to the Sizzix site and that Vagabond is really neat looking. I like the fact it folds up into an old fashion suitcase.
If you aren't learning something new everyday you might as well just lie in a grave and wait for death.
Of the two you mention, I'd go with the Hot Shot too. Wish I had one. The Cuttlebug works well, but I'd prefer a Sizzix product. The vagabond is very expensive, but is fully electric. And, I've seen quite a few postings about problems people have been having with them lately. There's also a new machine out now, also fully electric, called the eBosser by Craftwell. So far the people that have used it think it's incredible. And, it has the ability to emboss to 8.2" x 12", which is substantially larger than any of it's predecessors. Good luck!
I have both the Cuttlebug and the Big Shot, and in my opinion the Big Shot is a much better embosser/die cutter. The Cb is smaller and folds up for storage which is nice but it doesn't feel as sturdy. I had problems getting the thicker dies like Bigz to cut right in the Cb. The BS cuts everything from the wafer thin (like spellbinders) dies to the thick ones easily. I have also found with embossing I do not have to mist my paper to get clean impressions with the BS but I did have to mist with the Cb. If it were me I would buy the Big Shot again in a heartbeat. Hope that helps
