Okay, I contacted Leo at SVG Cuts. You were right, he is awesome! I sent him my file. He said that when he uses his program it does not corrupt the files, but that my program is absolutely corrupting my files.

I will let you know what happens. I sent all information to info@craftedge.com.

Craft Edge sent me this download:
This will fix the "automatic fill" issue. Unfortunately, it does not fix the corruption of the score lines. I had to resubmit the whole thing and hopefully they will fix that as well.

Wish me luck!

UPDATE: the official release has been issued

As far as customer service goes I have found CraftEdge to be about as good as it gets. They have always been pretty quick to respond to my requests.

It is quite refreshing, in this day and age so many companies just don't give a hoot about your problems once the cheque has cleared!

The answer to the adobe illustrator SCAL SVG import problems.
Illustrator produces files that are too complex for SCAL, so you have to simplify them— which is easy to do, but you will loose much of the editing abilities, so follow this on a copy of your file.

After you made a copy of your file:
(1) convert all type to outlines
(2) Any fills, line effects etc… have to be expanded
to do this,
(a) select all your objects
(b) Under the 'object' menu select 'Expand Appearance'
Now save as a SVG 1.0 or 1.1, no compression.

Enjoy!
