HELLO! and WMF files

Post by mariasfunzone »

Hello!

I'm new here. so first of all, HELLO! :D

I have been reading about SureCutsALot for a while now and have been debating getting the software to use with my Cricut (the orginal one). I've read some of the tutorials on here and find that although you can create a lot of images for little to no money it does take a very long time EXCEPT if you are using a WMF file. Is that correct? From what I understand it takes far less work to take a WMF file and 'convert' it to something that the cricut can use because you only have to seperate the image into color combos. Is this correct? :?:

The reason I'm asking is that I was cleaning out some boxes in the basement and ran across a really old box of software I had. It basically has 150,000 clipart and photo images. I looked in the box and noticed that out of the 150,000 about 54,000 are WMF files! Most I'd never want to ever use but there are a lot I would!

Before buying SCAL I want to be sure I know what I need to do to these WMF files to get them ready for SCAL and in turn my circut - to determine how much 'work' it is or how 'easy' it is. I'd be willing to share some images if someone could help me figure out how to do it beginning to end! ;)

Thanks,
Maria

Hi,

According to what I have read you cannot import a wmf into Inkscape. Here is the link to the discussion.

http://www.inkscapeforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1254

This Q and A says you can convert the files to pdf and then import them.

Hope this link answers your question and solves your problem. It would be a shame to loose those good graphics.

Good Luck

Hmmm.... I recall being able to use .wmf files previously. I had posted a screen capture in another link of all the file types you can import into inkscape. WMF is one of them.

Here is a file i just opened with inkscape. Don't forget to click on the 'zoom to selection' button to see the pic. (circled in red)

I too have some very old downloads with wmf files. I was able open (not import) all of them into inkscape. Some of mine I bought from an individual and there is one disc I have that is from boarderbound, all wmf files and all open fine. Sometimes though there are a million pieces to them and are not suitable.
