Whether to break a long email address across two lines?

Post by tompitt »

Hi,

I'm putting together some business cards for everyone at my work. Unfortunately, the current business card template is in portrait and two of the staff have very long email addresses that don't fit on one line due to double-barrelled names. Should I break the email address across two lines? If so is the @ the best place to make the break? Is there a better solution?

Please help.

I didn't find the right soltion from the Internet.

Does the business card need to remain in Portrait mode? I don't even think I've ever even seen a business card that wasn't Landscape and, to be honest, I think I would find it a bit annoying when I'm thumbing through a bunch of them to find one in particular.

But if that's not an option, then I would break it after the "@" sign and then maybe indent the rest of the address on the next line or even try aligning it with the first part of the email address. One or the other should be pleasing to the eye.

I would never break up an email address over several lines.
Is it possible that you could set up an alias to the email address so that instead of firstname.lastname@company.com it was just lastname@company.com?
