Help with Expression and SCAL

Post by toptervs »

I have a Cricut Expression running V 2.0~ can I use SCAL with it? If not, I'm looking for recommendations for a cutter to replace my Expression.

If you do not already own scal2 than the answer if no you can't since you cannot purchase scal2 anymore. It was obsoleted a couple of years ago.

There is a section on this forum for cutter reviews that might help with finding the right cutter for you that works with sure cutsalot.

See on the craftedge website a list of all the products and the cutters that are supported.

I did get my SCAL2 running and made a sample project. When I asked it to cut I got a drop down box asking the version of my Cricut (which is 2.0) but was only given the options of 2.1 or 2.3. I chose both (at different attempts) and the computer wouldn't make a connection to the machine.
Any more thoughts?

It has been so long since I turned on my Cricut, but you also had to upgrade the firmware originally with the Cricut for it to work with SCAL2. I don't remember the version number. You can no longer do the firmware upgrade so if you never upgraded originally it is too late to do so now.
