HI. I did a project last week.
I have the mat open in ecal.
I use my pointer to surround the existing text.
I attempt to go to the "T" (text) button and hightlight the text I am interested in finding out the font in.
NO GOOD.
I can not hightlite the text that is on the mat.
I have 5 names and I can not hightlight any of the names to find out what font I used/
Is it me????
I am jammed on time and now I have to go through my whole font library to find out what was used.
Can anyone help me out here?
Thanks
Paula

Re: finding out font used
Put your pointer on the text box. Look in the properties panel and in the section for Text you will see the name of the font you used.

Thanks, but it doesn't work. It only lets me see the text used, if I can highlite the letters.
Re: finding out font used
You can tell what font it is by selecting it or 'highlighting' IF it is stored on your computer. If it is stored somewhere else then it will not show the name...
That is how I understand it.
Why not take a screen capture of the font and put it into whatthefont

Are you using a PC or a Mac? Look to see if your fonts are installed as Gj1 mentioned? It helps if you indicate your operating system.

If you welded or converted to path the text will not be "text" anymore and you won't be able to just click on it and read off the font.
There is a trick we used to use in cases like this that might still work:
Make a copy of the ecal file
Open it in a text processor like notepad or textedit
you will be seeing the file in xml format where the font name may be hidden
do a search for the word "font" and then look near there for a font name your recognize
