It sounds like there are easier ways with ecal to do this...however, you can turn off the eye in the layers panel for the parts you don't want to cut. The eye hides or shows the image by clicking on it. So in this case with your cat...you would turn off the first layer and the shadow layer off to the side leaving only the shadow around your printed cat showing to cut.
My pictures and files are available for a limited time only.

yeah thats what I want to do but I have to make a shadow of the cat to get that layer. Is there someway to skip that step. Or would I duplicate the cat and set on layer to print then on layer to cut.

I got it cut out but I had to print the pix then cut the mat and then cut a second mat. b/c it when I tried to cut w/o making a shadow mat it would just cut the cat all up inside and out.

The svg file seems to be corrupt. I've worked on it from eCAL and Inkscape and I can print with reg marks but eCAL hangs at the point of marking the reg marks. I have captured the fail log and will send it off to CE.

I suggest, Tammy, that you try another svg file and see if you can make it work. I'll get back to everyone once CE figures it out.

It may take a day or so, but we will get back to you.

Kay after watching your video again on stamping the images and then making mats it clicked. I needed to break everything up just to get the out line of the cat in order for it to cut. The first time I tried it something did not work right so I went back and tried again and it worked great and gave me the outline I needed to cut. But I can see from much ado and doing over and over again that you just simply cannot cut out an image after u print it. U do have to have and outline to cut on. And you have to create that outline. Boy have I surely learned some lessons on this on.

Ladies this cat is going on a masculine card for my best friends husband and they have cats. But he has has 2 strokes on the last two Sat. And this one this past Sat. left him totally paralyzed and blind in one eye. No speech and no movement what so ever. And whats sad is he's only 62 and weighs about 160 pounds soaking wet. Never smoked a day in his life and has worked like a horse since coming out of the service. So we are now praying for the best but expecting the worse b/c he has a non operable blood clot on the brain. I know that was more details than you asked for. Sorry. But I want to thank every one of u for being patient with me and taking time to help me out. I love u all for it
Thanks very much.

Tammy, I'm happy you solved the problem. Now CE needs only to tell me why the file crashed when i tried to cut it. :(

Well I couldn't leave it alone. I had started with Tammmy's svg file and it kept crashing at the point of doing the registration bit in P2C. I know I have done p2c with an svg.

Today I converted the svg to a png in Inkscape and brought it into ecal and it worked.

Hmmmmmm, I have asked CE if p2c should only be used with jpg/png and not svg's.

Anyone else tried this?
