ruler on virtual mat

I have noticed that the ruler numbers on the virtual mat on SCA don't match to an actual mat. Example: in the bottom corner where there is a dark triangle...there is a 1 for 1 inch on either side of it on the actual mat...but on the virtual mat it is opposite and there is a 12 on each side. Does this make sense? I hope it's something that could be adjusted. It's a little time consuming to try to figure out the true measurements on where I want to start a cut or drawing.
