SCAL 5

Post by Alan »

Installed SCAL 5 on Dell laptop news generation with lots of memory. Installation went well. For one of my first tasks to try I imported a PDF file. Did not go well as SCAL goes into a "NOT RESPONDING" message. I have tried other format files and SCAL seems to work well.
No other apps are running
Any ideas?
Thank you

What is the file size on this PDF? Perhaps it has a graphic that is unusually large? I know that SCAL and other vector cutting programs can become unresponsive or even crash if one tries to import a really large high resolution raster image. I just tested some of my own PDF files and they seem to be working fine importing into SCAL5.

That's large enough that it definitely contains a raster image. It's possible that if there's no vector image in the file, then this could happen. You can't use a raster image that's inside a PDF. You'll need to extract that image from the PDF and then import it as a JPG or PNG or whatever. Then trace it using the Trace Image function in SCAL5. If you like, you can email the file to me at smccauley45@cox.net and I can confirm that I get the same result.
